My Interests and Passions
I am passionate about understanding how the world works. I want to learn everything I can about physics, engineering, chemistry, and other sciences so I can better understand why things work the way they do. My current plan for the future is to become an aerospace engineer, but I have numerous back up job plans, from a doctor to an astronomer. The one thing they all have in common is that they all revolve around some sort of science. I like sci-fi books and TV shows because it's interesting to think about how some of those ideas could some day exist in real life. I've taken piano lessons since 4th grade. I'm not serious about it, but it's a fun hobby. My favorite extracurricular is robotics. I enjoy the competitive engineering aspect of it. There are so many different parts that go into building a robot, but my two favorite parts would probably be assembling gear ratios for CIM motors and the electrical components.
Looking at an Object Like an Extraterrestrial
For this assignment we had to find an object in our house and study it as if we were an alien that had never seen it before. It encouraged us to look closer at the object and really study all the different aspects of it's design and why it was made like that. I studied scissors. This is a common household item, so I've never really put much thought into using them. When I looked at them from the point of someone that had no clue what they were I noticed more details, like the fulcrum in the middle and the ergonomic shape of the handle.
